Jonathan Vrban | Nurse Practitioner at Kaiser Permanente
Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, Jonathan Vrban maintains involvement in a vast array of professional and personal projects, honing his talents as a writer, chef, and gardener. Among his various writing endeavors, Jonathan Vrban works on short stories, medical reviews and research, and recipes that unite a multiethnic palette of influences and flavors. The owner of more than 200 cookbooks, Dr. Vrban also takes his gastronomical cues from his world travels, including Mediterranean cooking classes he attends each visit in Italy. He travels to Italy several times a year. As a gardener, he cultivates a lush collection of tropical plants, with 30 different ti plants, birds of paradise, ginger, orchids, palms, and other flowers, trees, and shrubs. Dr. Vrban has been focusing on his baking talents. He loves the challenge of a complicated recipe that he can master. Recently he made a chocolate-espresso dacquoise. Another time in his gourmet kitchen he made the peanut butter sandwich cookies which uses an Italian meringue as the base to make the delicious peanut buttercream filling between the two cookies. He makes his baked goods to give to the firemen at his local fire station.., as a way to show appreciation to those who risk their lives to protect others.
